Explore Volunteering in 2018

Every day thousands of Warwickshire residents give their time to a good cause. Warwickshire CAVA have organised an event to celebrate the hard work of all our volunteers, and to encourage others to join up to the volunteering community in 2018.

Helen Wilkinson, Volunteering Co-ordinator at WCAVA said…
‘Please visit us at our ‘Explore Volunteering’ event on Thursday 18th January. We have teamed up with local charities, each offering a range of different volunteering opportunities to give you a real sense of what’s out there and how you can get involved.’

WCAVA will be joined at the event that runs from 10.30am to 2.30pm in the Royal Priors Shopping Centre by groups who rely on volunteers to deliver their services. Included in the event are Helping Hands Community Charity, The Friendship Project, Guide Dogs, Citizens Advice, Girl Guides, Air Ambulance, PHAB, Warwickshire Vision Support and local community centres.

Between them, these organisations offer hundreds of very varied opportunities to volunteer. These include working with Children, animals, disabled adults, homeless people and local communities generally. Opportunities include amongst other things: befriending, cooking, fundraising, organising activities, reading, offering advice & guidance, puppy walking, administration and retail. Their message is that there is something for everyone.

‘There will be something amazing for you to do as a volunteer, whatever your interests or skills and however much time you can spare. Volunteering is about giving something back and is incredibly rewarding. We’d also like to say a big thank you to all of you who already give your time selflessly to help others. Please do come and see us at the event, we’d love to meet and thank you all in person!’
