Charities

Judy has chosen the Forces Children Trust and Sudden Adult Death Syndrome as her chosen charities to support during her year of office in memory of two people who lived in Whitnash.

Forces Childrens Trust

Sergeant Gary O’Donnell made the ultimate sacrifice for his town and country. In his memory and to recognise the sacrifice of many in the armed forces Judy will be supporting The Forces Children’s Trust who help families of services personnel. This is also the charity the town council are supporting during the Poppy weekend in June. Please see Cllr Barton and the web site for details of the events.

Sudden Adult Death Syndrome

The second charity is S.A.D.S in memory of Ria Hickerton. Two days before her 17th birthday Ria died while at work in Leamington Library. Judy knew Ria as a baby, helped support her education as she came to the school where she worked and she interviewed and gave her that first job at Leamington Library. Ria's sudden death was a shock to so many as she was a fit, healthy teenager. Her family have raised funds for the past ten years to raise awareness of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome and ways of preventing it and to support the charity S.A.D.S. who have supported them. A defibrillator bought with funds raised by the family saved a life at Leamington Swimming baths.

Please check back here or on the noticeboards to find out more about up-coming fund-raising events.
